How can I abide in Jesus?
Question: “How can I abide in Jesus and be more like Him?”
Those, who abide in Jesus, will produce the fruit that Jesus produced. Jesus pleased God by His obedience and we should also please God by our abiding in Jesus. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me (John 15:4).
Jesus Christ requires His disciples to abide in Him. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned (John 15:6).
If we abide in Jesus Christ, then we will produce fruit for the Father. I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit (John 15:1-
We deceive ourselves if we claim to abide in Jesus Christ but do not live a life characteristic of how Jesus lived. How did Jesus live on earth? In love, He cast out the devil, he healed the sick, and he evangelized the lost by following God’s instructions.
We draw closer to God by praising Him. …let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name (Hebrews 13:15). We stay in the environment of God’s blessing by staying in the environment of praise. We can praise God while in line, driving, and working. And sometime, while talking with someone, we can listen and talk and still be praising God in our mind.
We stay in God’s blessing by staying in praise
Let us not praise God in the good times and complain in the troubling times, but praise Him even more in the times of trouble. And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them (Acts 16:25).
In our own capacity, we cannot live the Christian life. We need to daily surrender our thoughts, desires, life, time, and assets to the Holy Spirit to lead, direct, and strengthen us in our struggle to live a Christian life.
Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father (Colossians 3:17).
Abiding in Jesus Christ is a personal experience of intimacy, with us abiding with G
od and God abiding with us. Jesus answered and said unto him, “If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our home with him" (John 14:23). God’s requirement for abiding in Christ is, If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love (John 15:10).
Are you abiding in God’s love by loving Him and keeping His commandments? If not, determine to do so and ask God for His help.
Those who abide in God will live like Jesus, producing fruit for God. You can consciously recognize that God is with you, in your midst of life, and that He loves you. For He has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5).
