Am I going to Heaven?
Question: “Am I going to Heaven? Do you want to go to Heaven?”
God is a Holy God. Holy means He is sinless. Even though God loves us more than we will ever comprehend, His Holiness will not permit Him to allow anyone with sins into heaven.
If we want to go to heaven rather than hell, we need to eliminate our sins. But how can we become clean of our sins? The truth is, there is nothing we can do on our own to eradicate our sins. But God, in His mercy, before time began, wanted a relationship with us, so He devised a plan to provide a way. He provided His Son, Jesus Christ as a substitute payment for our sins, a price we could never pay. He paid for our sins on the cross with His sinless blood.
Would you like to go to heaven?
God makes it easy to have your sins forgiven. You only need to humbly say to Jesus that you have sinned and ask Him to forgive you of your sins, to come into your heart, and to be your Lord and Savior.
When you sincerely ask Him into your heart, you become a new creature in Him, cleaned, forgiven, and saved.
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23).
Notice that there was no consideration regarding if your sins are big or small, or if you have more good deeds than bad deeds. The only consideration is do you still have your sins or have you made the choice to give them to Jesus.
Are you seeing the picture? There is no gray area. It is either white or black. You either have your sins or you have given your sins to Jesus in repentance and have been washed clean by the precious blood of Jesus.
2 Corinthians 6:2 says, behold, now is the day of salvation. Do you want to go to heaven? Have you asked Jesus into your life?
Our sins are what separates us from God and keeps us from heaven and it is through the saving grace of Jesus that our sins can be forgiven and we can be accepted into heaven. It is the same for Christians who have sinned. They need to take their sin to the Lord in repentance, and He always forgives them. Unfortunately, many that once accepted Jesus falsely believe they still will go to heaven even if they turn from God and stop repenting of new sins, sins that separate them from God and heaven. Click for Can Salvation be Lost?. People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy (Proverbs 28:13).
Matthew 7:21 is a good verse to meditate on. Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Who will enter the kingdom of heaven? Only those who are doing the will of the Father. Only those who have obeyed and received Jesus and continue walking with Him.
Hebrews 13:5 says Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. He is always with me, even when I get off the path and am in sin. As my friend, He is always trying to help me, guide me back to the path, to repentance, and lead me in all aspects of my life.
God’s Word says that we will have some difficulties in our life, but we can rest assured, that in God’s mighty love, He will work out all the difficulties for our good.
God, in His infinite love, is calling you to have a loving relationship with Him.
Answering God’s call
Coming to God and accepting Jesus, is more a condition of your heart than the words you speak. When you come to the Lord convicted of your sins, with a repentant heart, asking for forgiveness, asking Jesus to be your friend and Lord, what you say can be as short as, “Lord save me,” or a longer prayer, such as, “Lord, I repent of my sins and ask you to cleanse me, make me as pure as snow, take over my life, and be the Lord of my life, in Jesus’ name, amen.” Click for more information.
If you do not know Jesus, now is a perfect time to ask Him to clean you of all your past sins and to be your friend and Lord. Then when you are asked “are you going to heaven”, you can say, “absolutely, 100% yes, for I am a child of the King, walking with the Lord in obedience, in love, in holiness (forgiven of my sins), and in trust.”
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
