The following present only a few of God’s multiply characteristics and nature. God is God and beyond our full comprehension.


God’s character

Some of God’s characteristics include: God is compassionate (Mark 1:41), holy (1 Peter 1:16), just (Acts 17:31), loving (1 John 4:8), truthful (John 14:6), merciful (not getting what you do deserve) (Luke 6:16), and gives grace (getting what you do not deserve, John 1:17). While God judges sin (Luke 15:10), He also offers forgiveness (Luke 1:77) to those who ask Him.


God’s nature

Some of God’s nature include: God is spirit (John 4:24), intangible (John 4:24), infinite (1 Timothy 1:17), incomparable (2 Samuel 7:22), and unchanging (Malachi 3:6). God is omnipresence (always present) (Psalm 139:7-12), omniscience (knows everything) (1 John 3:20), and omnipotence (has unlimited power) (Psalm 115:3). God is eternal – He is from everlasting to everlasting (Deut. 33:27), unchanging – He is the same yesterday, today, and ever more (Ps 102:26-28).  God is triune – He is one God who has manifested himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16-17).


Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God (1 John 3:1).


In God’s great love for us, He wants us to come to Him, in love, and be His children, part of His family.
