What is God’s simple plan of salvation?
Question: “I hear many ideas related to going to heaven, but most are based on man’s belief as most do not appear to know what the Bible actually says about being saved. What is God’s simple plan for salvation?”
Salvation is defined as deliverance. While salvation normally refers to deliverance from the punishment of sin, it can also refer to deliverance from an enemy.
Sin is the rebellion against God, the turning away from what God calls righteousness. Sin's origin is to be found in humanity's rebellious nature, first demonstrated in Adam and Eve. Romans 3:23 tells us that all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Our sin separates us from God and condemns us to die apart from Him who created us because we do not believe and receive His forgiveness. God says, For the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Death refers to the spiritual separation from God’s love and presence. Those separated from God will inevitable end up in hell. God does not want anyone to go to hell, but desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:4). God has provided a way of repentance from our sins.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23). If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
In Acts 16:30-
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus paid the price for our sins on the cross that we may become sinless.
The entire issue of salvation is what are we going to do with our sin. We can keep our sin and it will prevent us from going to heaven or we can repent and give our sins and our life to Jesus and go to heaven. The only way to be saved and forgiven of our sins is to come to the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6).
Being saved is not a question of how many sins you have and how little or big your sins are, but have you repented of your sins and received forgiveness in the name Jesus Christ. Romans 10:13 tells us, For whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. “Whoever” doesn’t mean just the few or the richer ones, or those who have only a few sins, but Whoever, All, Everyone, no matter how many sins a person has or how bad they believe their sins are, if you call on the name of the Lord with sincere repentance, you will be saved. Why? Because the blood of Jesus is more than capable of cleansing the worst of sinners.
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9).
Some may say, "Surely, it cannot be that simple." But God says, Yes, it is this simple! It is what God has said in the Bible. Repent and receive Jesus. It is God's simple plan. It means that you can this very moment, believe on Jesus and receive him as your Savior. God in His love, offers us His free gift of grace in order that we can be saved.
If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from death, you will be saved. For it is by our faith that we are put right with God; it is by our confession that we are saved (Romans 10:9-
Come as you are, for He is waiting for you to ask. Just sincerely pray; “Lord, I know that I have sinned. Please forgive me of my sins, cleans me, and come into my life as my Lord and Savior”.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come (2 Corinthians 5:17).
