The word heaven is mentioned 641 times in the Bible, 277 times in the New Testament, and 141 times by Jesus or related to Jesus.
And we can be assured that its beauty, peace, comfort, glory, joy and love are beyond human understanding. No eye has seen, no ear has heard, nor has entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for them that love Him (1 Corinthians 2:90).
While the true totality of heaven is beyond our comprehension, we can still learn some of the Biblical secrets about heaven. This section is referring to the fourth and final heaven as detailed in Where are the heavens, click.
The wall of the city had twelve foundations. The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone (Rev 21:14,19).
He also measured its wall, 210 feet by human measurement. The wall was built of jasper (Rev. 21:17-
The city lies foursquare, its length the same as its width. And he measured the city with his rod, 1,380 miles. Its length and width and height are equal. The street of the city was pure gold. The city was pure gold, like clear glass (Rev. 21:16, 18, 21) (Some believe each side is actually 1,500 miles long).
That Jesus is in heaven with the Father. He was taken up into heaven and sat at the right hand of God (Mark 16:19).
Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God (Rev. 21:3).
I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better (Philippians 1:23).
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away (Rev. 21:4).
And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb (Rev. 21:22).
And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb (Rev. 21:23).
The eternal life, love, sinlessness, joy, peace, health, and an intimate relationship with God that existed in the the Garden of Eden in Genesis 2-
A river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, and there it divided and became four rivers (Genesis 2:10).
Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb (Revelation 22:1).
We find the tree of life in Genesis 2:9 (The Garden of Eden) and in Revelation 22:2 (The new heaven).
God wanted a very personal relationship with man and for a time had it in the Garden of Eden. And He will again have a personal relationship with man in the new heaven.
And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. Then came one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues and spoke to me, saying, “Come, I will show you the Bride, the wife of the Lamb” (Revelation 21:2, 9).
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed. Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness (2 Peter 3:10-
The new heaven is beyond our imagination containing joy and peace, eternal life and health. A place of infinite beauty that is not defiled by sin nor under the curse of sin. A place that is lovely to behold and beautiful in all aspects as was the Garden of Eden. A place that can be enjoyed by all who love God and are obedient to His ways.
