Is gambling a sin?
Question: “Is Gambling a Sin? What is gambling and is it ever acceptable?”
The Bible does not specifically condemn gambling (or the lottery), but it does warn us For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil (1 Timothy 6:10), and it warns us about the greed of “get rich quick” schemes.
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have (Hebrews 13:5).
Matthew 6:24 proclaims, No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.
In itself, there is nothing wrong with money. It is when we want more than what God has for us and when we put the gain of money ahead of God, that we cause ourselves great harm.
Wealth gained hastily will dwindle, but whoever gathers little by little will increase it (Proverbs 13:11).
