How can I tell if God is real?
Question: “Are there ways in which I can tell if God is real, if He exists?”
God has provided three ways to show mankind that He is real. They are the marvels of His creation, the marvel of His Word, and the marvel of His Son on earth, Jesus Christ.
In creation, God has given us millions upon millions of examples of His wonderful handy work. We can look at something as wonderful as a simple rose, how wonderfully it unfolds into such a beautiful flower. So simple, but man has never created anything even half as wonderful. Look at your hand and its complexity of nerves, bones, muscles, tendons, skin, blood veins, and it can even heal itself when cut. And what did you just use to look at your hand with, your eyes. Even atheistic scientists admit that the human eye could not have evolved; it had to be created at one time.
I can also present the rich history of the Bible and that in 2,000 years, the Bible has never been proven wrong.
The Bible contains near 3,000 prophecies, none that have ever been wrong, and of these, 312 are about Jesus, and of these 300 have already occurred. The likelihood of 300 prophecies about Christ all being fulfilled by Jesus is 1 in 10 with approximately 6,000 zeros following.
There have been hundred of books written explaining the created wonders of the universe and thousands more demonstrating the truth and accuracy of the Bible.
Let me provide my personal proof of God in my own life.
In my teens, I felt a drawing to Christ, but did not understand what the drawing was and being a mechanical, logical type of person, was not easily convinced to change from my agnostic (a person who claims neither faith nor disbelief in God) belief.
When I was 18, I was given Hal Lindsey’s book, The Late Great Planet Earth. Believing it was a fictional story, it sat on my shelf for 5 years until the Lord drew me to read it. As I read it, I kept checking the verses Mr. Lindsey was using with a Bible to be sure that he was not misusing or distorting the intent of the verses. I started to go to church to learn more, but was not ready to jump in. As time continued, I felt the Lord calling me, but I kept saying, “I am getting closer, but not yet”. Then one day, the Lord again called me and I again said, “I am getting closer, but not yet”, and the Lord said, “Yes, today is the day”. It was so clear to me that there was no more fight left in me. I said, “Yes Lord”. I went forward and accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I surrendered my sins and myself to Him. When God calls you, don’t do as I did and say “not yet”, but say “yes Lord”.
In the following days, the first thing that I noticed was that the empty lonely hole that I always felt in the middle of me was gone, it was suddenly filled. It was filled with God. The same God that said He would never leave me nor forsake me.
I also found that as I learned to trust God with all of my problems and concern, as I cast them on Him because He cared for me, that my fear and worry was replaced with God’s peace and joy. This was not an external happiness, but an internal joy from God.
During the more than 40 years being a Christian, I cannot say that I did not have problems, but I can say that God was always there to handle my concerns and solves my problems. While most of my problems have not been major, there have been some major examples, such as when at a three-
To me, more impressive than God saving my life is His daily presence. As I trust in Him, His joy, peace, and love are manifested in me. A presence that I do not know how to explain, but I know beyond all doubt that God is with me. I can never say I am alone or no one cares, because God is with me, God cares for me.
God is real and wants to walk with all of us, but is only able to walk with us when we open the door and invite Him into our life as our Lord and Savior. God has given us the creation of the universe, the Bible, and His Son to prove His existence. And He has given us a free will to believe and receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior (See Salvation) or we can refuse all that God has provided to prove His existence and love.
The question was, “is God real”. The answer is, for me, very much yes. I have experienced the love, help, and presence of God for over 40 years and can proclaim, YES, God is very real.
