Why Did Jesus Have To Die?
Question: “Why did Jesus have to die? Was it necessary? Was there an alternative to Jesus’ death?”
Why was it necessary for Jesus to Die for us? Because all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin is death (spiritual death) and John 8:21 tells us You shall die in your sins.
Sin against God demands spiritual death as a punishment. The punishment is ether paid by us in hell or is paid by Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross.
Nothing less would be acceptable to God for our sins, but in His great love for us, He sent His Son, His sinless Son, to pay for our sins with His blood, for only His precious, sinless blood was worthy of covering our sins.
He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Cor. 5:21).
Jesus has completed His part, now it is up to us. We either reject what Jesus did for us upon the cross or we accept His great love offering.
