Jesus said, Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does (John 5:19).
Jesus’ power and instruction came from the Father through the Holy Spirit. Without the anointing of the Holy Spirit, Jesus the man could not have had any miracles. It is the same Holy Spirit that later raised Jesus from the dead. It is the same Holy Spirit that was given to the disciples, the early church, and is given to God’s children today when they accept Jesus as their Lord and savior.
Jesus said, But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you (Acts 1:8). Are you a Christian, then you have received the Holy Spirit. He is living within you and will never leave you. The same Holy Spirit that performed signs, wonders, and miracles through Jesus.
That’s fine, but what about me? Jesus said, that if you believe, you can and will do the same miracles that Jesus did. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believes on Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto My Father (John 14:12). You can be a conduit for miracles if you believe.
It is like having a Christmas present under the tree. It is there for you, but it will be of no value until, by faith, you take the present, open it, and use it. As you learn to walk with the Lord and to seek the gifts that He has for you, you will you start to see God’s power manifested through the Holy Spirit.
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God (1 Corinthians 2:12).
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God (Romans 8:14, 16).
know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have of God, and you are not your own (1 Corinthians 6:19)?
People keep saying, “I’m just a normal believer.” But there is no such thing as normal. If you are a believer, then God is with you and in you and that is not normal. You are a child of the King. You are a son or daughter of God. You are empowered with the Holy Spirit and are not operating within the limits of the physical world but within the spiritual world which has no limits. God can do anything and when we ask in faith, mountains can be moved.
Moving in the power of the Holy Spirit is not so much talking, but listening to what He is telling us. It is a personal relationship with God, spending time with Him and meditating on His Word.
One of the best ways to become quiet before God is to pray and praise Him in the Spirit. Then we stop telling Him our desires and plans and start listening for His loving directions and guidance. And as our relationship grows, we will start moving into the power of miracles.
