A miracle is an occurrence of any event that is unexplainable by natural laws. It is a supernatural demonstration of the power of God to alter, suspend, or control the laws of nature.
Many have been taught that miracles did occur in the past but do not occur today. However, God said, For I am the Lord, I change not (Malachi 3:6).
While many study miracles from a historical prospective of what God did during the the times of the Old Testament, what He did during the times of Jesus, the apostles, and what He did with the early church, they have failed to understand and see that God is still providing many miraculous works with His people today. Why do they fail to see? Because blind pastors teach that miracles no longer occur so people lack the faith to see and receive miracles from God.
Job 37:5 tells us, God thunders marvelously with His voice; He does great things beyond our understanding.
The Bible is a miracle
For over 4,000 years the devil through many ruling powers has been trying to destroy the Bible. Copies have been collected and burned and many have been killed for possessing even a part of the Bible -
In 1947 the first of eleven caves where found that contained manuscripts that where over a thousands years older than known manuscripts, but when compared to modern copies, no significant discrepancies were discover. The Bible is a miracle in its writing, accuracy, prophetic accuracy, harmony, living power, and preservation. God declares His protection of His Word, For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished (Matthew 5:18).
Old Testament miracles
A few of the Old Testament miracles would include judgement of Israel and many times rescuing Israel from their enemies, often without Israel even lifting a weapon. The great flood and preserving humanity through Noah. The miracle of Abraham at 100 years of age and Sarah at 90, having a baby and the miracle of Enoch having never died by being taken up to heaven by God.
And what of Moses who God preserved with a small basket on the Nile and the many miracles God did through Moses to rescue the Israelites from Egypt, including Moses’ rod turning into a snake, the plagues, parting the Red sea so they could pass over on dry land, shoes and clothes that did not wear out, and feeding nearly two million people in the desert for 40 years. And what of the cloud that stayed over the Israelites to protect them from heat during the day and warm them at night.
In the book of Joshua, many miracles are recorded including parting of the Jordan River, Gideon’s army of 300 men destroyed 135,000 Midian solders, the sun standing still, and the walls of Jericho falling down flat.
And what of Elijah. He stopped and started the rain, was fed by ravens, turned a very small amount of oil into many barrels of oil, brought the widow’s son back to life, had fire come down from heaven, divided the Jordan River, and was taken to heaven in a chariot of fire.
Elisha also parted the Jordan River, multiplied oil, prophesied a son would be born to Shunammite woman, made poisoned pottage eatable, floated an iron ax head, healed a person of leprosy, opened blind eyes, and after he died, his bones brought back life to a dead man.
The above is only a small list of the many miracles one can find in the Old Testament. The Bible is a miracle book.
The Bible is full of miracles, miracles that demonstrate the power God during the time of the Old Testament, the New Testament, and today. God has not changed and He still is in the miracle business. God works through people -
Millions of Christians around the world speak in tongues, praying for healing and needs and they receive. Millions of miracles are occurring around the world for those who seek them and believe that God will, in His love, provide them the miracles they seek.
The greatest miracle of all is God calling a sinner to repentance and their sins being cleaned and washed away so that they may spend eternity in heaven with God.
Are miracles happening today, absolutely. Sometimes immediately, sometimes over a longer period of time, but the key has always been and is always faith.
