Question: “What verses would be beneficial to include in our prayers?”

This page contain verses that can be powerful when praying.


The intent is to personalize a verse and pray it back to God. For example, the verse Do everything in love, can be personalized by saying, Lord, in Jesus’ name, help me to do everything in love.


In faith, we pray believing that in God’s perfect timing, some times now, some times later, we will receive.  



Believe


… All things are possible to him who believes” (Mark 9:23).


Call


Call to Me and I will answer you (Jeremiah 33:3).


Commands


He replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you (Luke 17:6).


Confession of Sin


Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin (Psalm 51:1-2).


Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow (Psalm 51:7).


For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God (2 Cor 5:21).


Deeper relationships


Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8).


Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love (Ephesians 4:2).


A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger (Proverbs 15:1).


Finding - Seeking


Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you (Matthew 7:7).


Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth (Colossians 3:2).


God’s guidance


Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths (Psalm 25:4).


God’s protection


From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe (Psalm 61:2-3).

   

And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting (Psalm 139:24).


If God be for us, who can be against us (Romans 8:31).


God’s will


Help me Lord that I may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God (Col. 4:12).


Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good spirit lead me on level ground (Psalm 143:10).


Everything you do, do in the name of Jesus, giving thanks to the Father trough Him Col. 3:17).


Guarding your mouth


Set a guard over my mouth, Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips (Psalm 141:3).


Healing


But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed (Isaiah 53:5).


He sent out his word and healed them (Psalm 107:20).


For I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will heal, declares the Lord (Jeremiah 30:17).


… they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover (Mark 16:18).


This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “He took our illnesses and bore our diseases”(Matt. 8:17).


And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven (James 5:15).


Lord’s Prayer


This, then, is how you should pray:

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one (Matthew 6:9-13).


Love


Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these” (Mark 12:30-31).


Do everything in love (1 Corinthians 16:14).


Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud (1 Corinthians 13:4).


May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else… (1 Thessalonians 3:12).


Who crowns you with loving kindness and compassion (Psalm 103:4).


Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers (3 John 2).


Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name (Psalm 91:14).


And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God (Romans 8:28).


Mercies


Do not withhold your mercy from me, Lord; may your love and faithfulness always protect me (Psalm 40:11).


Needs Fulfilling


And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).


Humility


Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves (Philippians 2:3).


Overcoming negative thinking


May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer (Psalm 19:14).


Our Authority against Satan


I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you (Luke 10:19).


And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues (Mark 16:17).


Outlook


I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing” (Psalm 16:2).


But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well (Matthew 6:33).


As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless;

he shields all who take refuge in him (Psalm 18:30).


Patience


Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him (Psalm 37:7).


Peace


You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you (Isaiah 26:3).


Praise and Thanksgiving


I will give to the Lord the thanks due to his righteousness, and I will sing praise to the name of the Lord, the Most High (Psalm 7:17).


I will tell of your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise (Heb 2:12).


Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name (Psalm 103:1).


Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thes. 5:18).


Prayer


If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you (John 15:7).


And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son (John 14:13).


Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God (Philippians 4:6).


Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17).


Protection


No evil shall befall you. No sickness will come near your house (Psalm 91:10).


But the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you, and guard you from the evil one (2 Thes. 3:3).


God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, and love, and a sound-mind (2 Timothy 1:7).


Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God (Ephesians 6:13-17).


No weapon that is formed against you will prosper (Isaiah 54:17).


Refuge


I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust (Psalm 91:2).


Rejoice


This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:24).


Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice (Philippians 4:4).


For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and sound judgement (2 Timothy 1:7).


Salvation


That they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed (Acts 28:27).


because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9


For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).


For the wages of sin is [spiritual] death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23).


If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).


Seek


But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well (Matthew 6:33).


Teach


I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you (Psalm 32:8).


Times of Trouble


I called out to the Lord, out of my distress, and he answered me; out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and you heard my voice” (Jonah 2:21).


Make your face shine on your servant; save me in your steadfast love (Psalm 31:6).


you shall fear the Lord your God, and he will deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies (2 Kings 17:9).


Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all (Psalm 34:19).


Trust


Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 15:13).


casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).


Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him,

And He shall direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).


Why salvation can be hard


He [Satan] has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so they can neither see with their eyes, nor understand with their hearts, nor turn—and I would heal them (John 12:40).


When afraid


The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1).


When sad or brokenhearted


The righteous cry out and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:17-18).


When tempted


Let not my heart be drawn to what is evil, so that I take part in wicked deeds (Psalm 141:4).


When you can’t sleep


I lie down and sleep, I wake again because the Lord sustains me (Psalm 3:5).


Unanswered Prayer


The God we serve is able to deliver us … But even if he does not … He is our God (Daniel 3:17-18).
